Human Factors/ Ergonomics (HFE) & Environmental Psychology
What the project is about:
In this project, our team is interested in various ergonomics and environmental psychology aspects. On the ergonomics front, we work on investigating how environmental and psychological stressors affect behaviour and performance at the workplace. Our research also aims to understand how behaviour influences safety performance.
Our work on environmental psychology focuses on the restorative effects of environments. Via PSYC 4520/PSYC 4750 Environmental Psychology course, we conducted behaviour mapping of public spaces, post-occupancy evaluation of buildings, and environmental impact assessment of projects within the university’s area. Other projects include documenting environmental-related news in the EnvipsychNews project and examining the relationship between the dynamics of family life and the architecture of their home in the Architecture and Family Life Style project. Students were also involved in sustainable activities such as environmental volunteering with Zoo Negara, WWF, and the Malaysian Nature Society, among others. They, too, engaged in personal sustainability behaviour such as recycling, conserving water and energy, and not using plastic bags, among others.
